The interactions among several genes, which influence multiple neurotransmitters (chemical messenger to transmit the signals in the body) which are serotonin, dopamine & norepinephrine may result in ADHD since each neurotransmitter has their own role.

According to gender, higher prevalence of ADHD is reported in males compared to females.

This area of the brain is responsible for behavioural and functional abilities that may manifest in patients with ADHD as difficulties in organization, mood, motivation, self-regulation, and ability to retain specific information while performing a task, which are abilities referred to as executive functioning.
